The Lenovo Ideapad S540-13IML is a laptop introduced in Late-2019. It features a 13" QHD screen, Intel Comet Lake processors, integrated Intel HD Graphics 620, and optionally comes with an NVIDIA GeForce MX250.

Installation

It is recommended to follow the usual installation procedure described in the Installation guide.

Hardware

WLAN

Works out of the box with module iwlwifi.

Audio

The device used is Intel Corporation Device 02c8 (per lspci -v). Initially after installation sound is not working and no device is shown in the GUI. This laptop requires firmware in order for the soundcard to work. See Advanced Linux Sound Architecture#ALSA firmware. You may also have to increase the volume using alsamixer. Run

$ alsamixer

Then using F6, select sof-hda-dsp card and increase the volume to the maximum. The volume up and down keys should now control the master volume and enable reaching the maximum output.

A synaptics touchpad, two-finger and multi-touch gestures are recognized.
